Idyllic Streets of Mont Saint Michel

"You wouldn't believe it, but on Mont Saint Michel there's not just a monastery but also a gallery of shops, restaurants and snack bars. Heck, I even spotted a post office and a hotel! But it was very crowded with tourists, so I guess all shops can and will benefit from them.

About this spot: I thank god that I took 3 shots here. The single shots look quite dull and liveless, but the 3 blended (-2, 0, +2 EV) make up for a perfect HDR (imho). When I did the square crop it improved even more. So much more that I think this is one of the best shots in my stream so far. Hope you like it too!"

"Another shot from Praia da Rocha. A fantastic beach to enjoy the sunset with the wife and a cold Superbock. I could have happily hung around on this beach for a couple of days."

Two of Us

Two of Us, originally uploaded by CORDAN.

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing so low
In the sun

You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home

We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

The Beatles: Two of Us

Baby Lion

"The lion (Panthera leo) is one of four big cats in the genus Panthera, and a member of the family Felidae. With some males exceeding 250 kg (550 lb) in weight,[4] it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Wild lions currently exist in Sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia with a critically endangered remnant population in northwest India, having disappeared from North Africa, the Middle East, and Western Asia in historic times. Until the late Pleistocene, which was about 10,000 years ago, the lion was the most widespread large land mammal after humans. They were found in most of Africa, much of Eurasia from western Europe to India, and in the Americas from the Yukon to Peru."

I awoke last night to the sound of thunder...

" awoke last night to the sound of thunder (well actually it was 4:30 this morning). How far off I sat and wondered"
"Drove to the Marin Headlands but it was way too foggy so I went low near the Coast Guard station for this shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Sat in my car with a remote shutter listening to podcasts. Wrapped a poncho around my camera when the rain started. Took lots of shots, this was about my fourth shot of the morning when I got lucky. You should of heard me say "YEEEESS!" when I saw the huge strike and the sky lit up white/blue with light. Ooooh, what a lucky man he was (Ode to ELP)." those were the words used by the photographer to describe this photo.

9-11

9-11, originally uploaded by anadelmann.

"For almost two years I was passing this memorial in Tinton Falls, NJ, and always wanted to have a closer look. I’m glad I did have a closer look and learned more about the World Trade Center towers memorial replica. Tinton Falls is one of the commuter towns that lost residents in the attacks of September 11, 2001. The memorial is a detailed 8-ft. (~2,5m) tall plywood replica of the Twin Towers. Personal memorials, flowers and photos have been added around the base.

This 9-11 Memorial was erected on December 14, 2001 in front of Fire Company No. 1 in Tinton Falls. It is presented by Jared Stevens and the Tinton Falls Fire Company No. 1 for anyone touched by the tragic events of September 11, 2001

I think this memorial is a good way to commemorate those lost on September 11." SAID THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Visiting The Subway

Visiting The Subway, originally uploaded by James Neeley.

"We had a great trip to The Subway in Zion National Park. I found it a pretty tough hike especially packing 50 lbs. of camera gear. Where is a Sherpa when you need one! When we got to the actual Subway though it was well worth it. I could have spent hours exploring and photographing this place but knew we still had a grueling hike out and others who were there just for the hike.

There are so many angles and composition possibilities. The view above is the most photographed angle that I have seen but the opportunities are endless. One of the hard parts for me was constantly packing and unpacking my camera in my water proof backpack. This area in particular was extremely slippery so I would take a picture, pack my camera and move to another spot. I would then unpack the camera, set up and shoot repeating this process over and over"
these were the words used by the photographer to describe the above photo.
