" First lighting of the giant Christmas tree at a park in São Paulo. The tree is 20 stories high and has 500,000 lamps. For the record, I don't like Christmas. " Says the photographer .

Red Ribbon Rooftop
" A view from the Empire State Building of Manhattan’s many Office Towers. Each one is unique in design and stature. But if you look closely one building’s rooftop sports a decorative design. Look for the gift-wrapped box complete with red ribbon and bow. " Says the photographer .

Come fly with me!
" Weather-wise it's such a lovely day
You just say the words and we'll beat the birds
Down to Acapulco Bay
It's perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say
Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly
Pack up, let's fly away!! " these are the words of the original photographer .

River
" It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
DECEMBER 9, 2007 -- FULLFORD, COLORADO, USA -- Frozen Sylvan Lake surrounded by Blue Spruce. Recent storms have dumped over one foot of the white stuff. A true snow shoeing adventure. " Says the photographer .

project
" just a taster of what is to come, after my friend Brendan started making lego cufflinks he planted the seed of an idea in my head so this is just the begining of a little project.
I was probably also inspired by bitrot's great lego shots. "

Calm after the storms...
" If you have been watching the national news lately, you will have seen that the Pacific Northwest recently got pounded with some serious rain/wind storms. The storms flooded quite a few areas, and also caused I-5 in Washington State to be closed for the last few days. The storms have passed over now, and this evening it was perfectly calm along the river.
I decided to head down here this evening after work to check it out. I haven't been down to the river for about a month now, and after all these storms, the water was incredibly high. In the future, I would love to get this shot with some fog and some moving clouds."

Tempestous Fury, Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight
" I've been quickly scanning through the hundreds of shots i've taken in the last few days looking for something that really conveys the sheer violence and energy of the waves that we've had this weekend. Ultimately, nothing comes close to standing on the clifftops and feeling the elements in person, but i think this one begins to paint the picture. " These were the words of the original photographer .

Frosty Morning
" This is another image from my recent trip to Canada. I was sorta on the fence with this one and that's why I am just now posting it (besides the fact that I don't have anything new to share because I haven't been out shooting for about a week now :)). The conditions were ok for this, but technically, I sorta messed this one up by having the foreground slightly out of focus. I have cropped out more than half of the grass at the bottom in this one." Said the photographer .

Top of Akasaka
" On the 40th floor of my hotel, this is the view, at 5:05am. Jet-lag sucks.
I've promissed myself to get out this morning and shoot. I've yet to be inspired by anything, but I know I'll find something soon. " Says the photographer .

Plumeria
" This flower belongs more in a tropical location such as Hawaii rather than N CA but I'm managing to grow it here, again. Last year, the weather dipped below freezing for more than a week and what I had grown died. The exposure of the plumeria is blown, for the sake of exposing the hummer. No post crops." Said the photographer .

I'm havin' a hard time resistin' callin' this Mt. Doom ...
"This is actually the mountain Þorbjörn near Grindavík, seen from the Blue lagoon. It was foggy and dark when I took this and I guess the light in the sky are the city lights from Grindavík diffused by the light fog covering everything at the time of capture." these were the words of the photographer.

Paper Clip in a Wind Tunnel
Here are the words of the photographer :
" This is a paperclip floating on water. The lighting is a large softbox behind, shot through a set of blinds. I placed the paperclip on a fork and slowly lowered it into a black pan pan of water. I processed this at a white balance of 3000 kelvin to give it the nice blue color. I think the lines from the blinds look like smoke in a wind tunnel, hence the title. "

400 horses....
Below are the words of the original photographer :
" Right... I can hear you thinking...
What is she doing? Can't she just stick to animals?
But.. what you are actually looking at here, are more than 400 horses in one picture!!! :-)
A friend of mine bought this dream car - the Ferrari 360 Modena F1- some time ago and he asked me if I could shoot some pictures of it. Well gladly, but I had a condition: only if I could drive during the photoshoot!! Much to my excitement (and surprise I might add) he agreed.
So, on a sunday afternoon, with pounding heart and trembling hands, for the first time in my life, I got to drive a Ferrari! I can report back that everything you ever heard about this car is true and more than that. What a thrill!!
I had the most fantastic afternoon. I won't tell you the speed I drove with this baby but it was 'slightly' over the speed limit! :-)
When I close my eyes I can still hear the engine roaring...... "

A close one ...
Below is the note of the photographer "
" This one stroke just on the other side of the street. Quite a nice bang it had. Luckily the tree didn't catch fire. Taken from my balcony.
Cropped this from the larger photo. And for the viewers, I took a LARGE amount of photos today when trying to get some of the lightning over here. "

slow food or fast food?
read the notes of the original photographer below :
" sb-26 through a white umbrella to the top of the shot, white card to the bottom, gobo for the fork (struggled with one for the knives, but gave up, and ended up sticking some paper underneath the blades to stop them being completely white) "

Seems Like Yesterday
The photographer states his memories as follows :
" Twenty five years.
13,400,000 minutes to be precise.
Seems like only yesterday.
Canon 50mm Compact Macro
JTL Versalight 300, with 24" x 24" softbox, high and directly above.
Nikon SB28 and Sigma DG 500 Super, opposed with plain white paper difussers.
Background is plain white paper. "

Grow
Below are the words of the original photographer :
" Taken for the CWD "agriculture" assignment.
I drove out east on I-70 this morning in search of farm land. In the end, I guess this is probably just a weed. But I like it. :-)
I stopped shooting when a guy in a Union Pacific truck mentioned that people were getting arrested for being too close to the train tracks (I was a few feet away at the time...though I had been standing on them 5 minutes earlier). Busted. "

Not a sparrow falleth
"Not a sparrow falleth,"
How sweet the words and true
"Without your Father's notice,"
Who careth still for you;
O tiny bird, so trustful,
Teach me such trust as thine,
That so the wondrous lesson
I may possess as mine.

firm grip
Below is the detailed note of the original photographer regarding this interesting photo :
" male N. American Osprey wings off after a successful hunt, victim clutched in a single claw. Seen over the Machias River, Machias, ME USA. I was able to witness the entire process from initial targeting, to splashdown, recovery, and full flight. The fish's struggling initially kept the Osprey off balance and necessitated some awkward shifting around while getting underway. Fantastic to witness.
Interesting note: or at least, I find it interesting, the Osprey is the only raptor with a reversible toe, allowing it to grasp with two talons in front and one in back -- as seen here :-) "

Grizzly catching salmon
Below are the words of the photographer :
" My parents have their 45th wedding anniversary this summer, and to celebrate they invited the whole family on a trip to Alaska. We flew into Fairbanks, took the train to Denali, then headed down to Anchorage and made day trips from there.
On Saturday I took a seaplane to Katmai National Park - one of the most incredible wildlife areas I've ever visited. A mile hike from the Brooks Lodge took me to a small waterfall where grizzly bears fish for salmon, and even though it was past peak season there were at least 10 grizzlies taking out one fish after another.
I spent hours taking photos, burned through more than 12GB, and wish I could have stayed there for weeks... "

Enchanting light.
We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining - they just shine.
